  • Tanya Donelly was not only a founding member of the legendary indie rock bands Throwing Muses and The Breeders, she also formed Belly with bassist Fred Abong in 1991.

    The line-up was completed at the time by the two brothers Tom (guitar) and Chris Gorman (drums). Their first album "Star" was released in 1993 and was an instant hit. In the U.S., the debut was awarded gold and nominated for two Grammys; worldwide, "Star" sold over two million copies.

    The single "Feed The Tree" even cracked the Top 40 in Great Britain. in 1995, a second Belly album, "King", was released, which, however, could not tie in commercially with "Star". The following year Belly was history, because Tany Donelly wanted to dedicate herself to her solo career.
