DEATH, the heavy metal institution founded, realized and directed by legendary guitarist Chuck Schuldiner, released the album Individual Thought Patterns (the follow-up to their milestone Human) in 1993. Expectations were high after the release of Human, but Schuldiner proved once again that he could rise to any occasion. Individual Thought Patterns further refined the forward-thinking and progressive direction born with Human and included "The Philosopher," arguably the best song ever to come out of the world of extreme metal, and to this day the most widely known.
After the successful predecessor 'Human' (1991), expectations were very high, but frontman Chuck Schuldiner confirmed with 'Individual Thought Patterns' that he can take his vision of metal even further. The sound and song evolution of Death has gone towards progressive metal and the album includes one of the best songs ever released in extreme metal: 'The Philosopher'.
