"Microcastles" is the follow-up to the highly acclaimed Deerhunter album "Cryptograms" (2006). And it seems that Bradford Cox (Atlas Sound) is making good on his promise: "My punk days are over!", says the band's lead singer and creative head on MySpace.
In fact, "Microcastles" surprises with its laid-back charm and only occasionally revives the wild garage sound of the early Deerhunter. The almost sacred "Activa" underlines the band's versatile and clear songwriting, while "Saved By Old Times" comes along with such a kicking guitar that it would also fit on an album by Dave Mathews.
