The British supergroup of progressive rock, Emerson, Lake&Palmer, enjoyed great success in the seventies, selling more than 40 million albums and playing in major stadiums. The band consisted of Keith Emerson on keyboards, Greg Lake on bass, vocals and guitar and Carl Palmer on drums/percussion, whose goal from the beginning was to combine classical pieces with rock music.
Reviews
, "On Trilogy (1972), the three deviated from their tried-and-true concept of using outside compositions. Except for "Hoedown," they wrote all the tunes themselves, which didn't stop the public from making it number two on the charts." (Good Times, August/September 2011)
