Hardy achieved instant fame in the early 1960s with her debut Tous les garçons et les filles, which sold millions of copies on the Vogue label . As an infinitely stylish pop star and actress, she found herself at the forefront of the French music scene and was one of the leading figures of the influential Yéyé movement. Mick Jagger once described her as his "ideal image of a woman", Bob Dylan dedicated a poem to her and she worked alongside such greats as Leonard Cohen, Serge Gainsbourg, Michel Berger and Patrick Modiano.
