- Long an old handHe is already a small phenomenon, this Marcus King. At just 26 years of age, he has already achieved many things in his career that other musicians are denied their entire lives.Already at the age of 19, he releases his first album together with his Marcus King Band."Soul Insight" is released at that time by Evil Teen Records, the label of Warren Haynes, guitarist of the legendary Allman Brothers Band and one of Marcus King's musical heroes. Two more albums followed, on which the band mixed bluesy Southern rock with jam elements and soul.in 2019, Marcus King announces his first solo album and collaboration with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. The produces "El Dorado" at Easy Eye Studio in Nashville, puts together the studio band and helps with the songwriting. The result is a slightly different sound and increased retro R'n'B influences that let Marcus King shine as a singer and guitarist. The Grammy nomination for best Americana album is logical. Now Marcus King finally has the successor ready for his fans. Dan Auerbach is also back on board and overall "Young Blood" continues the successful recipe of its predecessor. The combination of classic Southern Rock, Soul, Blues and R'n'B works perfectly in the eleven new songs. No matter whether in the withdrawn "Blues Worse Than I Ever Had", in "Blood On The Tracks" with its Creedence Clearwater Revival-beat, or in "Lie Lie Lie", which reminds of snappy The Black Keys, everything sounds like from one cast and perfectly tuned to Marcus King.In the lyrics, Marcus King deals with a painful breakup and his alcohol and drug abuse that got out of control. Best to be heard in "Pain" and "Rescue Me". In the meantime, the young man from South Carolina has, according to his own statement, got himself under control again and is even engaged. So good prospects for Marcus King, who succeeds with "Young Blood" a strong album and an impressively mature work.
