Originally issued on Touch And Go Records in 1994, Action Park (named after the infamous New Jersey theme park) is the the hard hitting debut full-length release by respected producer/engineer/bassist Bob Weston (Volcano Suns), drummer Todd Trainer (Brick Layer Cake, Rifle Sport), and producer/engineer/guitarist extraordinaire Steve Albini (Big Black, Rapeman ) as minimalist rock trio Shellac. Audio quality is paramount, as always, with Shellac, and At Action Park was recorded electrically, and features no overdubs, no guest appearances and no tiny cymbals that go "pish." Home to the acidic Albini masterwork "Crow."
Reviews
"Abrasive, arty, nasty, noisy, innovative and unique, Shellac are proof that there is still massive scope for experimentation and carving out new sounds with a standard guitar, bass, drums lineup in the indie-rock format." Sputnikmusic
"At Action Park does reveal a band more musically intelligent and imaginative than Big Black." AllMusic
"At Action Park delivers a full blast of audio assault and yet it’s so soothing to my ears. Albini and crew whip you with their guitars, so brutal you are wetting yourself in Kim Gordan’s panties." Kids Like You & Me
