Squid comes from Bristol, England and indicates that they are influenced by the German band NEU! and the British This Heat. Krautrock, Post-Punk and experimental Rock are terms that you can think of when you put this third disc from the gentlemen on your record player. Singles Crispy Skin and Building 650 were already a foretaste of the musical adventure you will embark on when you listen to Cowards in its entirety on your headphones for the first time. The creative compositions and ominous lyrics will keep you on the edge of your seat. The Ruisi Quartet, which plays violin and cello, contributes to the already richly arranged album. The highlight is the title track Cowards, which is reminiscent of Radiohead during the Kid A era - something you can be proud of as a band. But due to the unexpected use of wind instruments, it is also undeniably Squid. Not convinced yet? Be sure to take a look at the analysis by Justin Hawkins (singer of The Darkness) on YouTube, which nicely describes how clever and well put together Squid's music is. (Said Ait Abbou)
