The Byrds were one of the first bands that knew how to combine the best of two different worlds. They combined the energy of the British Invasion with the musical elements of the contemporary folk movement. Along the way they became pioneers of psychedelic and country rock, but always managed to remain recognizable thanks to their vocal melodies and ringing guitars.
On their third album, 1966's "Fifth Dimension," the psych rock of "Eight Miles High" and "I See You" moves more in the direction of LSD, joined by a new taste for Indian raga. One of the most groundbreaking albums!
